MCP Marketplace & Ecosystem

Another benefit of MCP or the MCP standard and all the tools which are building up on this standard is that we can build marketplaces. Think of like the app stores we have with iOS and Android. So we can just build tiny apps, our MCP servers for each services and tools like Slack, HubSpot, GitHub and so on. And can offer it to businesses or to the community. And there are already a lot of directories online where you can find different servers. Glamour.ai is one. They have also some security, license and quality batches. Then we have the official model context protocol servers from Entropic. It's a GitHub repository. So you can find here a lot of servers. Then awesome MCP service is another directory on GitHub where you can find like file system servers and so on. And you can see there are a lot of servers available. So if you're looking for a Shira server, then we have here a Shira MCP server. And we save a lot of time since we don't need to develop them. More visually appealing directories like cursor directory. You can also find here MCP servers or MCP.so. And you will find a lot more registries online. And one of the most well known is Smifery. So they give all these websites, give you also some information how you can install the service. Unfortunately for Smifery you need to sign up. But let's see, for example, MCP.so. Let's click on the blender here. There is also no installation instructions, but I guess the link into the GitHub. And here you can see how you can set up this service. How you can set up the server. We do this in a later session. So I will explain it step by step. Don't worry. Let's go back to the slide. And you can also build your own marketplace for your own intranet apps. Meaning, for example, you have some local CRM system and you want to plug it into your clients. Like you have a Slack MCP client or you want to ask something in cursor about the CRM system. Which will be probably not the case. But maybe you have a local Shira server and a local GitLab server. Then you can also develop your own MCP servers for your local systems and plug it into your clients. The big advantages here that for the most popular platforms and tools are already existing servers. Which gets also maintained by the providers themselves or by the community. And you save a lot of time and they are also following all the same standard, the MCP standard. And it's just plug and play to use them. And if you just want to extend them. If you're missing any tool or any functions. For example, if you're using the Dropbox MCP and you're missing a function. For example, you want to upload something to your private folder. Then just fork the GitHub, create your own tool and use it. That's a big advantage and we can also benefit from the shared ecosystem and marketplace system. And what I can think of is that there will be in future a registry like NPM. So like NPM where you have here your development dependencies. Probably there will be a registry for MCP servers. But let's see. And that's another benefit of MCP. We reached the end of the short presentation of the MCP ecosystem. Its benefits. What is MCP? What is the current problems? How can we solve it with MCP? And I hope it gives you some understanding about the new protocol and the new standard. Again, if you have any questions, I'm here. And see you soon. See you in the next video. Bye bye.
