Cursor 0.47 Update: What's New

Written by [object Object]

By Kevin Kern

Cursor just rolled out version 0.47, and it comes packed with improvements you'll actually notice in your daily coding.

Here's a quick summary of the key updates:

  • Improved stability and faster performance

  • Easier keyboard shortcut management

  • Early access to beta updates

  • Automatic model selection

  • New visual themes

  • Clearer UI notifications and tool management

  • Improved rule organization

  • Global server configuration options

  • Enhanced Sonnet 3.7 AI model

  • Easier multiple image uploads

  • Better window management

Better Shortcut Management

Cursor now allows shortcut management directly in Settings > Keyboard Shortcuts.

Early Access Updates

Another new feature is early access updates.  Settings > Beta > Update frequency.

Automatic Model Selection

Cursor now automatically picks the best available AI model.

New Themes for Better Visual Comfort

Three new themes landed:

Cursor Dark

Cursor Midnight

Cursor Dark (High Contrast)

These themes help reduce eye strain and are especially handy if you're coding at night. Midnight and Dark High Contrast are great if you prefer clear visuals.

Clearer UI and Better Organization

The user interface got some refinements, especially around tool calling, notifications, and error messages.

Organizing rules also improved with nested rule folders and consistent .cursorignore exclusions.

Improved rule organization

New Modes:

  • Always: Attached to every chat & CMD+K

  • Manual: Mention the Rule explicit to use it

  • Auto Attached: Is picked up when extension defined like **/*.ts

  • Agent Requested: Tell Cursor that you want to use this rule (Mention the name)

Global Server Configuration

There's a new global server configuration at ~/.cursor/mcp.json supporting environment variables. This helps you easily manage configurations, especially when working on different setups or projects.

Sonnet 3.7 Update

Sonnet 3.7 got smarter but now uses two requests per action. It’s a trade-off: more thoughtful responses but at a slightly higher cost.

Easier Image Uploads

You can now upload several images at once in the composer. It saves clicks and simplifies your workflow, especially useful for documentation tasks.

Improved Window Management

Lastly, Cursor introduced window management tweaks. Frequently used panels can now be moved into a single sidebar. Think of it like having your essential tools handy on one desk instead of scattered around your room, it just makes life easier.

Final Thoughts

This Cursor update won't reinvent your workflow overnight, but it makes plenty of small, smart improvements you'll notice immediately.
